Naked Sound

I’m on week two of the 8 Minute Meditation program and just completed this mornings session. This week, Naked Sound, the goal is to sit quietly and listen to the sounds around you without attaching any emotional context, etc. When your mind wanders, you listen, then let it go and return your attention to the sounds around you.

It was pretty quiet today and my mind was ALL OVER THE PLACE. The author says it’s okay, the only bad meditation is the one you didn’t do. And while I get that, I really do, today’s meditation sucked. I’m going to try again tonight.

The author is right, you know. Yes, your mind wanders all over the place. And you keep bringing it back. That's good exercise. Keep at it!

Elkit,

Thanks for the pep talk. I'm going to this time, if I have to slap my mind silly in the process!

About Me

My photo
This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
