My Glorious 5-Year Prediction

Okay, maybe I'm putting myself out on a limb here, but I'm sure this is gonna happen and as a country, we've gotta be prepared.

5 years from now, 2012, a whopping 15-20% of all retail businesses will close their doors. Internet retailers will have made it impossible for them to continue.

5 years doesn't sound like a long time, and it's not, but if we're not prepared for this eventuality, then the middle class will continue it's downward spiral.

I think in five years we can pile a good deal of gloom and doom in most predictions. Global warming, stability in the middle east, oil embargoes and shortages, plague..etc. What I want to see before I die is a First Contact with an alien culture. That'll give everyone something to think about.

Stewart,

I'm pretty sure first contact already happened - our government just decided the masses aren't evolved enough to deal with it. Maybe that explains why we're in this social and ecological mess we're in. When it all goes to hell, those in power plan to head for planet X?

I think you're right, Cliff. First contact has already happened. Stewart is proof, isn't he?

Charles,

You're right of course. This is just a veiled attempt of his to let us know of his superior pedigree! Of course, now that we know...

About Me

My photo
This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
