11 Stories to Go

dark_half_ntsc_front.jpgOne of my New Year's Resolutions is to write a short story a month. This year, my main goal is to get the trilogy done, which means a hell of a lot of editing. But since man does not live by edits alone, I made a goal of writing one short story a month. Flash fiction doesn't count -- I'm talking a full short story -- edited and ready to submit. I convinced a buddy of mine to do the same, and we plan to exchange stories and edit each other's work.

So how am I doing? Okay, it's just February and all, but I can proudly say I'm already ahead of the game. In January, I wrote two stories! I even sold one of them already (but that one is being published under a pseudonym, so that's all I'm gonna say about that), so it feels very doable. Heh.

So my second January story, which was actually finished in February, could suffice as my February story, but I think I want to keep it as a life line -- I'm already close to a first draft of my February story, so I should be okay there. I'm not a prolific short story writer, so creating twelve new tales in 2008 is incredibly ambitious. But oh what fun it will be to have them all in my collection at the end of the year!

I can do this!

Congrats on the story sale. Of course, since you're not revealing anything, we're all free to make up wild stories about your "secret life" of writing.

Awesome on the sale, and on the story movement. That's killer. I aspire (and perspire, a little) to such heights. Yay! ;)

And thanks for the congrats!

As for your own flop sweat, in the words of the inimitable Yoda: Don't funk up the place with your sweat, do!

Or something like that (: Trust Yoda, and SUBMIT to your creative urges!

Thanks Kate! Appreciated. And it's not too late to join me.

About Me

My photo
This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
