Diet Update...or, what goes up, must come down?

So how did I do on my brand spanking new diet while in Manhattan? Hmm. Hard to say. My schedule was so all over the map, and yeah, I indulged. Shared a piece of chocolate cheesecake at Lindy's Deli the first night I was there (so, uhm, that doesn't really count, does it?).

So my plan was...indulge when you want to because you know you're going to be walking your ass off...and missing meals. And that's what happened. I don't think I had three meals any day I was there, and most days I hoofed it so many miles my feet were aching when I returned to my room, so those cheesecake calories were all but exhausted on the streets of Manhattan.

Heh.

Vacation. Gotta love it.

So anyway, I'm back now, and I'm back on me diet. By the way, I don't know if I told you this, but instead of the SlimFast drinks, I'm mainly doing the Special K cereal diet for two reasons -- Special K cereal is awful tasty, and with the right milk, about the same number of calories as SlimFast, and well, I get to chew. Chewing is good. Chewing is more psychologically satisfying than sipping.

So as I write this, I'm heading for a cafe to continue working (long ass work day -- though I took a couple hours off in the middle), and it's 7:00, past my dinner time. So I'm going to get a cup of rooibos tea (Mighty Leaf African Nectar -- doesn't get any better), and a muffin or a bagel, whichever they have. Tea is zero calories, but muffin/bagel will shoot me beyond the pale, but not by a whole lot as I'll just cut out my after dinner snack.

As for my progress, my pants are definitely already a tad looser. Nothing to jump up and down about, but I'm feeling a bit of progress. I won't be happy until I'm sagging like all the hep kids. Then, when they fall to my knees and I trip face-forward into the street and chip another tooth on the curb, well, I'll have arrived.

when Lana and I were in New York I found that just walking from one bar to the next burned all the calories from the beer I'd just drank.

This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
