I Miss the Warren Horror Magazines...

creepy045Month after month, I counted the days until the new Creepy, Eerie, and Vampirella magazines hit the stands...at their best, they had no equals. Unlike the superhero comics of the day, you never really knew what you were going to get from a Warren Magazine, and that was part of their charm.

One thing you could almost always bank on was the fact that the cover was going to be something special.

This is one of those covers.

I loved the art of these covers and stories were great. I've just start collecting them recently.

The nice thing about the Warren's is they've always been outside the crazy collector's mentality. I remember coming across the first issue of Creepy Magazine and it was less than ten dollars. The first issue had a story drawn by Frank Frazetta (a werewolf tale) and it about bowled me over!

They didn't sell these in Arkansas, at least not in my area of Arkansas, when I was growing up so I never got hooked on them. I kind of wish they'd been around, though. I'm sure I would have loved 'em.

A shame Charles, a real shame.

About Me

My photo
This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
