Just got an e-mail this morning about a very cool marketing/advertising campaign for Stephen King's next collection, "Just After Sunset", due in November. In conjunction with Marvel Comics and others, they're running an "animated" video of a story, N, from the upcoming collection. Each day, beginning today, and running through August 29th, there will be a new "chapter" in the saga to view. You can view it from their site, or via you cell phone (if you have the right plan/services). The first episode is beautifully drawn, but very short. Too short? Maybe. Only time will tell. About Me
- Clifford
- This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.

This kind of marketing is definitely not meant for me. I bet it works for many folks though, particularly younger folks.
I'm not part of the target audience either, as I've been sold on King for 25 years!
Yeah, I think they're going for the youth market, which is cool, as growing one's audience this late in a career (years after he "retired"), is pretty special.
I stopped reading Stephen King after I began having nightmares from reading his books. I can't handle anything horror at all now.
So I'm definitely not part of his target audience.
