I want my privacy!

imageFunny, in the last couple weeks two major browsers hit the market. First, Internet Explorer 8, Beta 2 was released. I downloaded it and have been using it for a while. I like it. A lot. And my favorite new feature is called “InPrivate” mode, or “InPorn” mode, depending on who you talk to. This feature allows you to surf the net without leaving a trail on your computer – no cached pages, cookies, or history entries. It’s like it never happened. You launch an InPrivate window from the Safety menu.

imageAnd then yesterday, Google shocked the world by releasing their own browser, Chrome. I’ve just downloaded it and have begun playing with it. On first blush, it seems much lighter than the other players (IE, Firefox, Safari, Opera), but the jury is still out on that. My favorite new feature is called “Incognito” mode, or “InPorn” mode, depending on who you talk to. This feature allows you to surf the net without leaving a trail on your computer – no cached pages, cookies, or history entries. It like it never happened. You launch an Incognito window from the unnamed menu with the page icon.

All in all, the features the two companies are touting are uncannily similar…

I have an interesting little share. Tuesday, I tried to access the Writers With Drinks site from my work laptop, only to be denied by our net nanny.

On a hunch, I installed Chrome and launched an Incognito window. It brought up the forbidden content on my work computer with no problem!

Bwahahahaha!

Now that's just cool! My last gig didn't allow you to go ANYWHERE, so this would have come in handy.

About Me

My photo
This is me and one of my two cats. His name is Cougar, and he’s an F1 Chausie. A chausie is a new breed of cat under development. Chausies are the result of a cross between a domestic cat (in Cougar’s case, a Bengal) and a jungle cat (Felis Chaus). Cougar’s mom is 8 pounds and his father is a 30-pound jungle cat. He’s about 16 pounds, super intelligent, spirited, and toilet trained. A writer without a cat (or two) is not to be trusted.
