I’m working on the 4th week of the 8 Minute Meditation program, and the last couple days I’ve failed, and haven’t done my practice. I’ve been very good up to now, usually doing two to three sessions a day instead of just one, so I wasn’t too concerned as I sat down and did my practice today.
Week four has turned out to be the best so far. The idea is to sit there quietly and notice your thoughts. When you do, you simply label the thought “Past” or “Future”. You can say it to yourself, or say it aloud, and let the thought go away on it’s on. Like magic, it works. As soon as the word passes my lips, the thought is gone, even forgotten, and I’m again firmly rooted in the present. The now. The calm.
I’ve got a busy day ahead of me, but between each “thang”, I’m going to do this meditation again. On Monday, I begin week 5. Getting close to finishing the base program (8 weeks) and exploring the next stage in my development. Good, necessary stuff.
